About Us
Woodumbrellabases.com was the brainchild of Lisa, Susie's daughter. We established the company in 2007 because we felt there was a need and opportunity to sell wooden patio umbrella bases. We think these are unique and unusual items since all of the bases you see are made of metal. The idea came about when Lisa decided that using a short, cherry log as an umbrella stand would work fine since she didn't have a metal one to hold down the mbrella that was on her front deck. Her husband, David, drilled a hole through the log and we tried it, and it worked very well. Since it was made of wood, I thought it would be a good idea to carve something on the side of the log so it would look more decorative. Then if we painted them with polyurethane for a strong finish, they would be able to withstand any harsh weather that may occur. Thus our idea was born...
